The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have publicly expressed their heartfelt support for the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, following her recent cancer diagnosis.
Harry and Meghan’s Message of Support
On March 22, Kate Middleton shared news of her cancer diagnosis in a video statement. In response to this, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released a statement on Friday expressing their well wishes for Kate and her family.
“We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace,” said the Duke and Duchess of Sussex according to Page Six.
Kate Middleton’s Health Update
Earlier this year, Middleton, aged 42, had undergone a planned abdominal surgery. Following the surgery, she took a break from her public duties. During this period, doctors discovered the presence of cancer and recommended she begin preventative chemotherapy.
“I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you, personally, for all the wonderful messages of support and for your understanding whilst I have been recovering from surgery,” said Middleton in the video message.
She also added, “It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I’ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me, for which I am so grateful. In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous.”
The Diagnosis and Family Support
After her surgery, Middleton was diagnosed with cancer, which was a huge shock to her and Prince William. She shared that her family, including her three children: Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, have been trying to cope with this privately.
Middleton has been reassuring her children that she’s “going to be OK.” She added: “As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits.”
